Yolanda C. “Yola” Rivera was called home by her precious Diosito on Sept. 07, 2023, at the age of 78. She is survived by the love of her life, her devoted and loving husband of 56 years, Jose Rivera; by her adoring children, Martha Laura Rivera, Monica Rivera, and Gerardo (Thelma) Rivera, who were her pride and joy, and her three grandsons, Julian, Adrian, and Joaquin who were her everything. She is also survived by her siblings: Irma Rivera, Rosa (Bill) McCarty, Olga (James) Love and Robert (Cynthia) Charles, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She is predated in death by her parents, Roberto Charles and Irma Charles. Yola was born in McAllen, Texas and moved to Hidalgo after marriage. She worked at Hidalgo ISD for 27 years and created loving and enduring relationships due to her kindness, her contagious smile, and her generous nature. Yola was a giver at heart. She was what 2nd Corinthians call a “cheerful giver”. She always made time for friends, neighbors and even strangers, and was quick to help in every way possible. And if you were ever in her home, she made sure you never left hungry. Yola was a blessing to all who knew her, especially her husband, children and family who love her beyond measure. Rest in peace our querida esposa “Yola”, our sweet mom, our sweet Welita, our sweet, sweet, Yola. Descansa en paz.
