Ubaldo Villagomez

Ubaldo Villagomez (January 23, 1944 - February 17, 2025) taught us there are always opportunities to help others. 

Ubaldo Villagomez, A cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2025. Born on January 23, 1944, in La Piedad, Michoacán, Mexico, Ubaldo was one of ten siblings. His early years were marked by dedication and resilience as he began working at the age of 13 to help his family.

Ubaldo married his beloved wife, Ema Villagomez, of 60 years and served honorably in the Mexican military, a testament to his commitment to providing for his family. The couple was blessed with seven children—two sons, Miguel and Jose, and five daughters, Elia, Lydia, Maria, Ana, and Maricela —and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who filled Ubaldo's life with joy and purpose.

In search of better opportunities, Ubaldo moved his family to California, USA, when he was 30 years old. He continued his legacy of hard work in the fields and later at Weeks Rose Nursery, where he retired at the age of 65. A man of faith, Ubaldo served at his church for many years, sharing his love and compassion with the community.

His generous spirit made him a beacon of light in the lives of many. He loved joking with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren while also engaging in intellectual conversations and offering insightful, profound advice. An avid fan of soccer and a keen follower of the news, he enjoyed staying active in both body and mind.

Even after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Ubaldo lived by the principles of his faith, often saying that the most important things in life to him were "God and his family.” His greatest hope was for his family to know the love of Christ and to live in harmony. A dedicated reader of the Bible, he sought solace and strength in its passages every morning.

Ubaldo's legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will forever inspire those of us who had the honor to know him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
