In Loving Memory of
Raymond Gomez Lopez
April 20, 1934 ~ September 28, 2023
Raymond Gomez Lopez was born April 20, 1934, in San Bernardino, California, to Sabino and Luz Lopez. He was 1 of 11 children.
Raymond was raised in San Bernardino and completed his education at San Bernardino High School. Shortly thereafter, he joined the US Army, where he attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
In 1959, Raymond married the love of his life, Eva L. Duran. Together, they raised their two children, Raymond, Jr., and Evelyn.
He was a firm believer in hard work and creating your own opportunities. This was perhaps best exemplified by his 30-plus years of service in the United States Postal Service, where he earned the position of postmaster. He retired in 1990 to enjoy more time with his family and take frequent trips to Laughlin, Nevada, with Eva.
Raymond passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 28, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and eight siblings: Francis Lopez, Carmen Lopez, Jessie Gonzalez, Pete Lopez, Juana Macias, Mike Lopez, Cesario Lopez, and Sabino Lopez.
Raymond is survived by his sisters Lucy Ramirez and Grace Rogers, two children, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
While typically a man of few words, Raymond never left a doubt in the minds of his loved ones of his deep love and commitment to those he cared about. His legacy will be one of resilience, determination, and unparalleled devotion to family.
