Mario Alonso Martín del Campo Martínez, age 73, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 11th, 2020, after an arduous battle with varying health conditions. Born in Mexico, D.F. on January 8th, 1947, he, throughout his time, inspired many with his charm, wit, and personal outlook on life. Mario lived with purpose and candor. A renaissance man who breathed new life into every step of his existence. An artist at heart, he was the kind of man who took in the essence of the world around him. He’d recite poetry in the mornings, pore over every craftsman’s detail in a piece of machinery, and felt, deep within his soul, the passion in every note of a piece of music. He spent 35 years at Gaviña F. Sons, where he was well known and admired for delivering coffee and hearty laughs to coworkers and clients alike. In his retirement, Mario continued to pursue his passion for craftsmanship, building and restoring bicycles, motorcycles, cars, houses, and anything he felt needed fixing. He led by example. No job was ever too large a task for him to tackle, and god forbid he’d pay someone to do something he could do himself. He was strong-willed, passionate, determined, charismatic, and fiercely independent. His acts of courage and defiance, of intelligence and charm, of wit and laughter, now live within us all. We carry those pieces of him everywhere we go. Mario is survived by his six children, Edgar, Patricia, Adriana, Sonia, Iris and Mario. Friends and family are invited to share their memories of Mario with his family during his funeral service at the Richard Peterson Funeral Home, 123 West G Street, Ontario, California on Friday, December 4th from 5:30-7:30 pm.
