Lucille “Lucy” Chavez Salazar
June 26, 1946 – December 4, 2022
On the evening of December 4, 2022, our beloved wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went peacefully with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was surrounded by her family.
Lucy was born to parents Alfred and Lupe Chavez on June 26, 1946, in Upland, California. She
was the eldest of four children.
She grew up in South Colton, attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary, Colton Jr. High, and Colton
High School.
Her hobbies included gardening and cooking. Not to mention her favorite holiday was
Christmas, where she would decorate her entire home. She enjoyed watching her Trio
musicians play as well as getting together with her Bunco lady friends and casino trips, but most
of all spending quality time with her FAMILY.
Mel and Lucy were married for 61 years. They raised four beautiful daughters.
Lucy was preceded in death by her loving parents Alfred & Lupe Chavez, and Mother-in-law Carmen
L. Salazar, Sister-in-law Mary Chavez, and Niece/Goddaughter Christy Ann Chavez.
Lucy is survived by her Husband Mel, Daughters, Melissa Murrieta, Melinda Chacon (Ron),
Melanie Garcia (Rey) and Michelle Estrada. She was blessed with ten grandchildren and sixteen
great-grandchildren, Brothers Bobby Chavez (Linda), Freddie Chavez, and Sister Rose Marie
“Baby” Marquez.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. She was a
ray of sunshine and her beautiful smile and presence will be greatly missed.
