To the world he was Juan, but to his loved ones he was Dad, Toño, Tio Puma but his favorite thing to be called was Grandpa. He had a hard exterior that developed from a not so easy life growing up in El Salvador, but he managed to make it to Los Angeles where he met the love of his life Maira. He then got to create his version of the American dream where he got to get up every single day without complaint to provide a life for their six children. He embodied exactly what you would picture as a young heavy metal enthusiast from the streets of Los Angeles in the 80s. He lived fast and partied hard as a youngster. He loved to dance cumbias all night with his wife, take care of all of his animals, watch sci-fi movies with his kids and always opened up his home to his loved ones to come and have a good time. Over time his hard exterior cracked and he even provided a safe space for his children and their spouses but most importantly, his sons and their boyfriends to be accepted, loved and respected. Once he had his granddaughters he completely melted. You could always find him playing toys, exploring outside, coloring, dancing and we’re pretty sure they even got some princess accessories on him for dress up. He would not want us to mourn his absence, but yet celebrate the life he got to live to the fullest. He created a life with his greatest love and filled their home with beautiful children he was so proud of. He engraved into our being that there is nothing more important than each other. He showed us how to love, respect and protect each other against all circumstances of the world, but above all else his loving wife & grand babies will forever be taken care of. As his children we thank you for the support we have received. The empty feeling and loss is greater than we could ever explain, but love keeps us going. From his wife Maira- Toño y yo nos casamos hace 40 años.
