Ernestine “Tina” (Garcia) Chacon
November 7th, 1930 – May 3rd, 2023
Tina lived a wonderful 92 years surrounded by her loving family. Tina went with our Lord on May 3rd, 2023, at her home with her family by her side in Colton, CA.
Tina was born November 7th, 1930, in Toledo, OH during the time her father was working for Southern Pacific railroad. Shortly after they moved to California and settled in South Colton.
She was a lifelong resident of Colton CA for 92 years and a high school graduate from Colton High class of 1949 (the 49’ers as she would say). She loved this little town and always felt at peace here. Tina was married to Steve Chacon for a wonderful 55 years before his passing in 2008. They had a daughter Linda Mathis (Gary) & son Ron Chacon (Melinda). She came from a big family & was the 2nd oldest. Tina always wanted to give back and do so much for others she had such a big and loving heart. She worked an incredible 30+ years as an Assistant Nurse in the E.R on the graveyard shift for the San Bernardino County Hospital before her retirement.
Tina has a big loving family. She got to see many many family members come and go throughout the years. She was a Loving Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great-Great Grandma, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend & granddaughter.
Tina loved to dance, listen to music, and travel, (she was a Vegas Baby). She also liked sewing, quilting, sculpting ceramic pottery, gardening, and attending family get togethers. She also loved her deep-fried tacos, cheese enchiladas, cheeseburgers, making her home-made salsa, and was a master of Chinese checkers.
Tina is proceeded in death by her husband Steve (Sabino) Chacon, her parents Carlos & Maria Garcia, brothers Tony, Fred, & Joe Garcia & sisters Augustine Garcia & Annie Perez, Great granddaughter Arline. She is survived by her loving children Linda Mathis (Gary) & Ron Chacon (Melinda). Grandchildren Joe, Darlena, Lorraine, Christy, Steven, Dixie, Crystal, & Ronnie. Great Grandchildren Monica, Jessikah, David, Paul, Ilia, Bella, Julius, Laeyella, Maya, Cameron, Breanna, Annabella, Josiah, Noah, Steven Jr., Sylar, & Jairo. Great- Great Grandchildren, Gianna, Alexander, & Amia.
She lived a long and fulfilling life, and her memory will live on through the many lives she touched. She will always be remembered for her compassion, strength, and ability to make everyone feel special.
Services will be held on May 30th at Colton Funeral Home, 1275 N. La Cadena Dr. Colton CA 92324 Visitation 9:00am-11:00am Speech by family & friends 10:00am Mass starts at 11:00am Rosary to follow by 12:00pm Place of Burial Hermosa Gardens 900 N. Meridian Ave Colton CA 92324 Starting at 1pm
Celebration of life to follow at the Knights of Columbus at 2pm. 740 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Colton CA 92324
