Effie Elizabeth Unkefer

Mrs. Effie Unkefer, age 97, of Colton, passed away last Tuesday evening, August 31, 2021 at her home with family by her side.  She was born May 17, 1924 in Irondale, Ohio and was the last the 16 Goleno siblings to pass. Effie was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Roy Unkefer; two sons, Larry Unkefer and Kenny Unkefer.

She took great pride as being a homemaker and caretaker of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they were young.  She enjoyed spending time with her family especially at the holidays and taking daily walks up to the market into her 90’s.  She kept her mind sharp by doing crossword puzzles, word searches and reciting all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s birthdays every night before she went to sleep.  

Effie is survived by her daughter, Linda Housley of Redlands, son and daughter-in-law, Greg Unkefer (Deedee) of Colton; 8 grandchildren Ken, Rick, Danielle, Anjanette, Lance, Jonathan, Natalie, and Bryce; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson.  She leaves many other family members that will miss her warm smile and gentle nature.
