Christina Bocanegra-Villegas, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, passed away on Friday, December 20, at her home in Colton, California.
Born on May 31, 1956, in Colton, she was the youngest of five children born to Frank O. and Amalia (née Esquer) Bocanegra. After graduating from Colton High School in 1974, she continued her education at San Bernardino Valley College, where she earned an Associate’s degree.
A proud member of the Inland Empire, Christina built her career, starting with roles at El Chicano Newspaper and The Press-Enterprise, before dedicating over 30 years to serving the community at the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Jimmy, daughter Rachel, brothers Francisco “Frank,” Diodoro “Lolo,” Eulojio “David,” and Robert “Bobby” Bocanegra, and her beloved cat, Bella.
Services will be held at Colton Funeral Home on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at 2:30 p.m. at Mitla Cafe on N Mount Vernon Ave in San Bernardino.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of San Bernardino in Christina’s name.
