McAllen - Alejo Romero Jr., 81, passed away Friday, March 07, 2025, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas. He was born in Alamo, Texas on June 19,1943, to Alejo Sr. and Cruz Moncivais Romero. 

Alejo Graduated from PSJA High School in 1961 and Pan American University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1976. He worked in the medical field his entire adult life as a laboratory technician and later as a hematologist at Pasadena Bayshore Hospital near Houston, Texas, the McAllen General Hospital, The McAllen Medical Center, and South Texas Health Systems in McAllen, Texas until his retirement as a supervisor in 2012.

He held his family in high regard and spoke with great fondness for his children and grand children. Alejo loved completing crossword and sudoku puzzles and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and McAllen Bulldogs play football. He also had a love for music, particularly that of The Beatles. 

Alejo is preceded in death by his parents Alejo Sr. and Cruz Moncivais Romero and brothers Francisco Romero and Mario Alberto Romero.

He is survived by his four children, son Alejo (Pamela) Romero III of Bowling Green, Ohio, Son Frank Omar (Zulma) Romero of McAllen, Texas, son Mario Michael Romero of Fremont, Michigan, and Daughter Patricia Lamar Richardson of McAllen, Texas; ten grandchildren, Mario James Romero of Toledo, Ohio, Camryn Elissa Romero of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Evan Anthony Romero of Bowling Green, Ohio, Jordan James Romero of Mission, Texas, Tara Nichol Romero of McAllen, Texas, Jake Austin Romero of McAllen, Texas, Rachel Marie Romero of Muskegon, Michigan, Michael Bruce Romero of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Daniel Duke Romero of Spring Arbor, Michigan and James Brandon Richardson of Princeton, New Jersey; 4 Siblings, a sister Anadelia Romero Serna (Luis Serna) of Alamo, Texas, step brother Max Romero of Tennessee, Step Sister Maricela Romero Martinez of Kansas and step sister Maricela Romero Martinez of Kansas and Step Sister Linda Feliciana Romero of Harlingen, Texas.

Alejo Courageously battled Cancer for several years and succumbed to it peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, March 7, 2025 with his son Frank by his side. 

A Celebration of Life Ceremony in McAllen, Texas is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
